CHNL Incorporates Daily Deals Into the Social Content Browser

LAS VEGAS, NV, Jan 09, 2013 (MARKETWIRE via COMTEX) -- (CES) CHNL (http://chnl.it), the social content discovery browser, today announced that it has now made daily deal tracking from Groupon and LivingSocial part of its service. Users simply select the city they want to view offers for, and LivingSocial and Groupon deals will be integrated seamlessly into their CHNL social feed as those deals go live. Groupon Goods and Getaway (travel and vacation) deals can also be added easily to a CHNL.

CHNL launched its public beta last fall, allowing users to create their own channel by delivering the linked content shared on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, YouTube, Flickr, Soundcloud and Tumblr. CHNL offers the quickest way for users to scan this content, find what is most appealing to them, and share back out to their networks.

"We built CHNL with the intent of making it the Yahoo!, MSN or Google for the social media age -- you can close those tabs you normally keep open for Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn, and navigate all that content through the simplest and most unobtrusive interface on the web," said CHNL co-founder and CEO John Wander. "Now that we have included easily navigable daily deals from the two most popular services for those deals, we've become even more of a one-stop shop for the social web. Someday, we hope CHNL is the only tab on your browser you'll ever need to have open." This social media content selected by the user in their CHNL is displayed in a dynamic layout grid. CHNL also uses its own "human algorithm" to determine what part of a user's social network feed will be most appealing to that user, without bypassing anything that might be important. In addition to being the quickest way to consume aggregated media -- and now, daily deals -- CHNL has also recently added tools that make it easier to engage and share this content across all social networks. For example, a piece of content discovered on Twitter can now be posted to any social network the user has chosen to connect.

"CHNL is about putting media first, discovering the content that matters to you, and eliminating social white noise. I've been concerned with media and its delivery tools for over a decade, and with the explosion of the social element, media is as fragmented as ever," added Wander. "As CHNL adds more social feeds and learns more about the content that should be bubbling up to the surface, we'll only get better at helping users tame this fragmentation and curing their social media fatigue." Users can now establish their own "CHNL" through http://chnl.it.

About CHNL CHNL is the ultimate social content browser, bringing your online DNA -- videos, photos, music, news, and deals -- into one clean, simple and intuitive "channel." CHNL allows users to discover new, interesting, and personally curated content while never missing what's trending across networks. See what's being said about a piece of content, engage in the conversation, and share your social feed content across all your networks, all together in one place, on any device -- your channel. Located in Santa Monica, CA, CHNL is led by veterans of such companies as INgrooves, FiltrBox (acquired by Jive Software), and Topspin Media, with backing from the Giantstep Angel Network.
