China to Build Remote Sensing Satellite System

BEIJING, Jan 09, 2013 (SinoCast Daily Business Beat via COMTEX) -- Since being launched one year ago, China's first civil high-definition mapping satellite ZY-3 saw its technical indices equal to or better than similar mapping satellites made by other countries.

ZY-3 changes the situation that China has to buy many satellite images from other countries. In addition, the country plans to use 10 to 15 years to build its mapping and remote sensing satellite system consisting of optic dimensional mapping satellite, radar satellite, laser altimeter satellite, gravity satellite, etc.

The state has include 3 ZY-3 follow-up mapping satellites into national planning and tries best to launch the second ZY-3 satellite at the beginning of 2014 so that the two will run within a network, thus obtaining the latest image data at any point of the globe.
