Newest DSP Group VoIP Processor Delivers Outstanding Price-Performance to Tier-1 IP-Phone Providers

(GlobeNewswire Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) SAN JOSE, Calif., Jan. 9, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- DSP Group®, Inc. (Nasdaq:DSPG), a leading global provider of chipset solutions for converged communications, announced today the availability of its next-generation DVF99, the newest member of the company's XciteR VoIP family of voice processors.

DSP Group's innovative DVF99 is the next generation of IP Phone and advanced ATA SoCs (System on a Chip), and was specifically developed for Tier 1 enterprise telephony OEMs. Designed to meet the needs of the enterprise IP telephony market, the DVF99 is based on a multi-core architecture that provides best-in-class voice experience, robust security, enhanced graphics and advanced peripherals. The SoC enables OEMs to build a scalable range of VoIP phones with superb voice quality and low power consumption, while maintaining an optimal cost/performance ratio.

Built with two ARM926EJ-S™ cores, providing combined processing speed of 1.1 GHz, the DVF99 supports all IP phone processing needs - from basic single-line IP phones to high-end multi-line gigabit Ethernet IP phones with large color display and advanced GUI.

Leveraging DSP Group's Enhanced Acoustics Echo Cancellation (EAEC) algorithm and bundling other high-definition speech technologies, the DVF99 provides superb voice quality that far exceeds competing technologies. The SoC's integrated Audio Front End (AFE) - which includes super-wideband ADCs and DACs, a Class-D amplifier, and multiple microphone inputs and speaker outputs - ensures superior audio performance at optimal cost.

The DVF99 also integrates multiple hardware accelerators, including a hardware security engine which enables a new class of secure IP phones, an LCD controller, a 2D graphics engine, a high-speed USB 2.0 port, DDR3 memory and a wide range of standard chip interfaces. With an eye to ecologically-friendly low power consumption, the DVF99 includes low power capable peripherals and incorporates a firmware-based low power management scheme to minimize power consumption during low-usage periods.

The DVF99 complements existing DSP Group XciteR solutions, including the DVFD818x VoIP processor which enables price-performance optimized low end VoIP solutions, and the DMW96 media processor, targeting high end VoIP and video media terminals. Covering the full spectrum of enterprise solutions, the DVF99 is an important addition to DSP Group's VoIP processors and demonstrates the company's commitment to, and emerging leadership in, the IP Enterprise market.

The DVF99 is bundled with DSP Group's IPfonePro Software development kit. IPfonePro is a Linux-based software platform that enables IP phone and ATA providers to minimize engineering development resources and lower time to market. The software SDK includes the DVF99 Linux Board Support Package (BSP), DSP Group's voice stack library including all required codecs, a networking library, a security library and a graphic library.

Samples of the DVF99 are available, and it is currently being used in development by leading tier-1 IP phone vendors.
