Students from Fort Mill, Nation Ford marching in Tournament of Roses Parade


PASADENA, Jan 02, 2013 (Fort Mill Times (Fort Mill - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- Ian Giocondo, Kaela Swanson, and Tyler Tickle representing Nation Ford High School and Natalie Lopez representing Fort Mill High School are all marching in the annual New Year's Day Tournament of Roses Parade.



The local students were selected from thousands of applicants across the country for membership in Music for All's 2012-2013 Honor Band of America Marching Band for the parade. This band is recognized as one of the nation's premier honor ensembles with 300 students selected representing all 50 states. The Tournament of Roses Parade will be broadcast on all major US television networks, several cable outlets including HGTV and RFD, as well as many international programming networks.

"To be selected for membership in this elite national ensemble is a great achievement and honor," said Eric Martin, Music for All President and CEO.


"The Honor Band of America members are ambassadors of America's music programs, as well as their states, schools and communities." Members are selected by recorded audition, evaluated by leading music educators, and the standards of acceptance for the Honor Band of America are of the highest level.
