FORTRUST Sponsoring Second Annual Holiday Meal Service at St. Francis Center

DENVER, CO, Jan 04, 2013 (MARKETWIRE via COMTEX) -- FORTRUST, the Rocky Mountain Region's premium data center and colocation services provider, today announced that they will be sponsoring their second annual holiday meal service at St. Francis Center in downtown Denver this afternoon. FORTRUST is working with the Denver Catholic Worker Soup Kitchen to provide the holiday meal.

The Denver Catholic Worker Soup Kitchen is an ecumenical group comprised totally of volunteers. It has been serving meals to needy persons in the Denver area for over 30 years. The Denver Catholic Worker Soup Kitchen serves over 30,000 meals a year. More specifically, the Soup Kitchen serves two meals a week to more than 300-400 individuals during each meal at the Saint Francis Center.

The St. Francis Center is a not-for-profit organization and has been a place of refuge for homeless people since 1983. The St. Francis Center assists patrons through a simple philosophy that is predicated on the fulfillment of the Episcopal Church's visions of goodness and godliness that they believe dwell inside all of us. It is through this vision that they serve a portion of Denver's over 12,000 homeless people each day.

FORTRUST began the now annual tradition of providing and serving a meal at the St. Francis Center for one meal during the holiday season. Working closely with the Denver Catholic Worker Soup Kitchen, FORTRUST was able to provide a very special meal during the last holiday season. Just prior to last year's Christmas Holiday, FORTRUST donated enough ham, vegetables, bread, ice cream and pies to feed over 400 people. Such a meal is a rarity at the St. Francis Center, as meat and ice cream are rarely available due to the strict financial constraints of the Denver Catholic Worker Soup Kitchen.

Employees of FORTRUST also donated their time in serving the meal.

This year, FORTRUST expects an equal turn out for their New Year's meal where they are providing full burrito and ice cream sundae bars to the people of the shelter. The homeless individuals of the St.

Francis Center were asked by FORTRUST to provide a wish list of food items they would enjoy being served. The consensus among the St.

Francis patrons was a special burrito bar alongside ice cream for dessert. Rob McClary, Vice President of FORTRUST, stated, "We found that last year the people of the shelter were so grateful for simple items such as ice cream that we decided to supply an entire ice cream sundae bar this year. Our staff cannot wait to volunteer again for this wonderful cause, so much so that we are turning away members of our FORTRUST staff in order to conserve room to serve." FORTRUST purchased the ice cream for the sundae bar from Liks, a local family-owned creamery specializing in hand made ice cream. Liks has been serving ice cream to the Denver community since 1976 and are proud to have been asked to be a part of such a wonderful cause.

Leslie Thompson, Liks owner, states, "We are thrilled to be able to provide FORTRUST with the ice cream for this very special event. We were so moved by this donation that my daughter and I will be volunteering alongside the FORTRUST Team as they serve this wonderful meal to the people of the St. Francis Center." Nancy Connick, Executive Director for the St. Francis Center is pleased to have FORTRUST back for yet another year. She states, "FORTRUST has allowed the homeless individuals to have a special holiday meal, one they were able to choose and will certainly appreciate." In addition to the unique meal, FORTRUST is also providing celebratory items such as hats and kazoos so that the individuals at the shelter can ring in the New Year with a true celebration.

FORTRUST President and CEO, Steve Knudson, is at the forefront of all of FORTRUST's charitable donations throughout the year. As a true philanthropist, Mr. Knudson ensures this community giving philosophy permeates throughout the entire FORTRUST organization. Mr. Knudson adds, "FORTRUST is constantly trying to give back to our community through various projects, but our donation of a holiday meal is a special one dear to our hearts. It is especially during this holiday season that we like to offer our assistance to those in need. We truly feel privileged to be a part of this cause for the second year in a row."
