Travel Advantage Network Helps Make Christmas Special for Needy Children

MILLERSVILLE, Md., Jan. 3, 2013 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- Employees pack shoeboxes full of gifts for Operation Christmas Child.

Travel Advantage Network, a vacation accommodations program, collected over one hundred twenty-five shoeboxes filled with gifts for needy children to be delivered by Operation Christmas Child, as part of a monthly charitable program.

"Participating in this charity gives our employees a chance to get involved in a way other than just donating money. In fact, many people had their children and grandchildren help pick out gifts and pack boxes to teach them about the importance of giving," explained Lauren Johnson, Senior Client Relations Coordinator.

Each month, a Travel Advantage Network employee chooses a charity for the company to support and comes up with creative activities to help raise funds for that cause. For Operation Christmas Child, Johnson decided that stuffing as many boxes as possible and surpassing last year's box collection was the main focus.

"Money is always tight around the holidays, which is what made all the generosity even more special. We had great participation with many people packing several boxes. We surpassed last year's collection by 25 boxes and I am upping the goal again for next year," said Johnson.

This is Travel Advantage Network's second year participating in Operation Christmas Child which is a worldwide children's project of Samaritan's Purse that delivers gift-filled boxes containing school supplies, toys and necessity items to children in need around the world.

Travel Advantage Network has been dedicated to charitable giving since its inception. In 2011, the company raised more than $12,000 for various local and national charities.
