Hospital and Employee Recognized by Idaho Division of Vocational Rehabilitation Region Five

BLACKFOOT, Idaho --(Business Wire)--

Bingham Memorial Hospital today announced it has been named Idaho Division of Vocational Rehabilitation's Employer of the Year for Region Five, alongside recognition of Lisa Devenberg, a Bingham Memorial Hospital Health Information Coder, as Employee of the Year. The Idaho Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (IDVR) is an agency of the Idaho State Office of Education, whose mission is to help those with disabilities prepare for and achieve employment through career counseling, training, assessments and evaluations.

Following medical diagnoses that limited Ms. Devenberg's availability to continue in her career as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Ms. Devenberg applied for and was subsequently enrolled in the Vocational Rehabilitation program. Through the program, Ms. Devenberg was able to prepare for a new career path by returning to school, ultimately earning an associate's degree in Applied Health Science, and receiving credentials as a Registered Health Information Technician. Ms. Devenberg completed her student practicum at Bingham Memorial Hospital two years ago and was hired ful time upon graduation.

"As an organization, we are proud to work with people like Lisa Devenberg, who show an unfaltering commitment to the healthcare industry and those it serves," said Louis Kraml, Chief Executive Officer and Bingham Memorial Hospital Administrator. "We are pleased to receive this recognition from the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation and congratulate Ms. Devenberg on her employee of the year award. As an employer, we look for those that demonstrate dedication to superior patient care in every area of the hospital and we are proud to have Ms. Devenberg on our team."

Bingham Memorial Hospital's human resources department communicates opportunities that are available across its different skilled departments in order to determine possible matches with Vocational Rehabilitation program candidates. In many cases, once a potential candidate is identified, the program funds the initial training.

"I'm grateful for the opportunity that the Vocational Rehabilitation program and Bingham Memorial Hospital provided for me and I'm thrilled to receive this award," said Ms. Devenberg. "Through the Vocational Rehabilitation program, I've been able to begin in a new career that I truly enjoy with an employer that values my work. It has been a wonderful two years."

Region five includes Pocatello, Preston, Gate City and Blackfoot. To learn more about Bingham Memorial Hospital and its services, please visit www.binghammemorial.org.
