Panasonic and Toyota Center Partner to Deliver Largest Arena Center-Hung Video Board in the U.S.

Houston, Texas, Dec 27, 2012 (PRWeb.com via COMTEX) -- Panasonic delivered a pioneering display, the largest indoor center-hung video board in the United States, to the Toyota Center arena, surpassing industry standards and expectations. The display was unveiled at the Rockets' home opener on November 3rd against the Portland Trailblazers. The new video board offers patrons a unique live viewing experience of Houston Rockets' home games and other arena events, including the 2013 NBA All-Star game. With a display resolution exceeding Full HD, the new Center-Hung LED is comprised of eight video boards totaling a massive 4194-square feet. The complete 17 LED video display arena solution helps fans feel closer to their favorite events, greatly enhancing the experience.

"Our new video board was the centerpiece of an arena-wide improvement this past offseason and the reviews we have received from our patrons at Rockets games and other events have been terrific," said Houston Rockets and Clutch City Sports & Entertainment Chief Executive Officer Tad Brown. "The new video board has allowed us to integrate a variety of new, statistics-driven information into our game presentation, thereby adding a new dimension to the fan viewing experience at Rockets games." At 1080 lines of vertical resolution, the video displays provide exceptional clarity and an unmatched view of the action from every seat. Part of a $15 million Toyota Center upgrade, the system features two main video boards measuring 21 feet high by 58 feet wide, and two side video boards at 21 feet high by 25 feet wide, all of which is topped by a video ribbon band totaling 645-square feet. Covering more than 60 percent of an official NBA floor, the new structure is exponentially larger than the previous solution installed in 2003.

Panasonic's new playback system allows for multi-layered graphics to be displayed on multiple screens simultaneously, along with incoming signals from the newly remodeled broadcast video replay studio. This system provides independent control of all video boards, as well as a variety of configurations for displaying live action, game stats and animation video.

The total Panasonic solution extends to the installation of six vomitory entrance video boards, two endhung video boards, an exterior Marquee and a full TV system upgrade of more than 400 new High Definition flat screen televisions in the lower and upper concourses, the event level, luxury suites and press areas, as well as the Lexus Lounge and Woodforest Lounge.

"Panasonic is pleased to have the opportunity to work with the professionals and staff of the Houston Rockets and Toyota Center, without whose support we would have been unable to complete the project within such an extremely aggressive timeframe," said Richard Ballard, VP of Sales & Marketing, Panasonic Eco Solutions North America. "Our team successfully delivered the solution in a short timeline while maintaining high quality standards. We are excited about the impact of the new system on the fan experience and expect all attendees will share in the excitement as they are highly engaged."
