CSC Gets GSA EaaS Blanket Purchase Agreement

Dec 26, 2012 (Close-Up Media via COMTEX) -- CSC said that it is one of 17 companies awarded blanket purchase agreements (BPA) to provide email as a service (EaaS) from the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA).

The estimated total value of this contract is $2.5 billion for all companies.

CSC was awarded two GSA EaaS BPAs: one based on a Microsoft Exchange solution and the other employing a Google solution. These BPAs, awarded during CSC's second quarter of fiscal year 2013, have a two-year base period and three option years. The BPAs were awarded under the GSA Schedule 70 contract, the Company noted in a release.

Under the terms of the agreement, CSC will compete for task orders to provide offerings within government community, private, secret enclave and public clouds. These offerings include EaaS (billed per mailbox), office automation, electronic records management, migration and integration services, with security requirements at the FISMA moderate-impact level (and FISMA high-impact level for the secret enclave delivery model).

CSC's EaaS offerings build on the success of the company's BizCloud for Government offering -- the industry's first and only on-premises, private cloud that is billed as a service and ready for application workloads in just 10 weeks. As federal agencies strive to improve operational efficiencies, reduce costs, meet federal mandates and embrace cloud services, CSC's BizCloud for Government provides the privacy, security and control of a private cloud with the agility, convenience and elasticity of a public cloud.

"CSC has successfully delivered email as a service to government organizations at the federal and state level, and that work has laid the foundation for providing GSA with a solution that will reduce cost, meet the President's cloud mandate and embrace cloud for enterprise applications," said Mike Gaffney, vice president and general manager of CSC's North American Public Sector Civil Group. "Government employees, much like those in the commercial space, want to use personal devices for their job and get work done remotely, and cloud services are the key to making this a possibility. CSC's experience delivering cloud services to both government and commercial clients will aid GSA as the agency transitions to deliver as a service enterprise applications across the federal government." Under CSC's cloud EaaS blanket BPAs, the company said that federal agencies will be able to order a broad range of EaaS services faster and at better prices. Agencies can provide the mobile workforce with email access from anywhere, manage licenses and deployment more efficiently and obtain faster updates for enhanced functionality and security.
