BRIEF: 2 arrested on drug charges at home near Turlock school

TURLOCK, Dec 21, 2012 (The Modesto Bee - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- Two Turlock residents were arrested Thursday when a search warrant served at a home turned up methamphetamine packaged for sale, cash and a loaded, stolen shotgun, Turlock police reported today.

Turlock police Narcotics Enforcement Team detectives had been investigating 42-year-old Frank Manuel Diaz over the past few weeks, department spokeswoman Mayra Lewis said in a news release today.

Diaz was located standing outside a residence in the 100 block of West Linwood when detectives arrived. He was arrested on suspicion of possession of methamphetamine for sale, possession of stolen property and being armed while in possession of narcotics, all felony charges.

Detectives will be seeking an additional enhancement since the crimes occurred within 1,000 feet of a school, Cunningham Elementary.

Sarah Jean Taylor, 25, was found inside Diaz's residence. She was arrested and booked on suspicion of felony possession of methamphetamine. Detectives executed the warrant about 3:45 p.m., after school was out, to ensure the safety of school staff, students and the community, Lewis said. Diaz and Taylor were taken into custody without incident.
