BRIEF: Embattled Richland County elections director quits

Dec 19, 2012 (The State (Columbia - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- Embattled Richland County elections director Lillian McBride will resign from her post effective Jan. 8.

Her attorney, John Nichols, communicated that to the Richland County legislative delegation during a closed-door session Wednesday afternoon.

State Rep. Todd Rutherford, D-Richland, communicated McBride's decision to reporters as he left today's meeting of the legislative delegation early.

Rutherford said he thinks the Richland County election board, which oversees McBride's office, will try to find her another position, perhaps in the county Elections & Voter Registration Office.
