On December 19, 2012, collection agency Rapid Recovery Solution, responded to a Brookfield Patch article regarding Connecticut U.S. Attorneys Office spending $20 million and collecting triple that amount at $60 million.
According to the Brookfield Patch article, "David B. Fein, United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut, today announced that the U.S. Attorney's Office collected approximately $60 million as a result of criminal prosecutions, civil lawsuits and asset forfeiture actions during the 2012 fiscal year."
The article states that collected money was broken down to $9.5 million criminal action, 42.2 million civil action, and 8.25 million from civil and criminal assets, which tripled the amount the office spent that same year.
According to Attorney Fein, "I appreciate the dedication of the people in this office and, notably, the work of our Civil Division and Financial Litigation Unit, in protecting the public and recovering this substantial amount of money." The article mentions that the debt collected will pay for the federal, state, and local law enforcements trying to continue to collect on debts.
John Monderine, CEO of collection agency Rapid Recovery Solution, commented on the article with his thoughts on the recent news. "I am glad to see states being aggressive with their debt collection and seeing results. Tripling your budget amount with collected debt is amazing, and it shows how beneficial collecting on debt can be."
