School field trips approved


CROSSVILLE, Dec 17, 2012 (Crossville Chronicle - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- The Cumberland County Board of Education approved several overnight and out of state field trips for various schools during its last monthly meeting.



The BOE approved the following trips: --North Cumberland Honor students grades six through eight trip to Chicago.

--Stone Memorial High School (SMHS) dance team trip to Memphis to perform in the Liberty Bowl halftime show.


--SMHS wrestling team for four different wrestling tournaments in the 2012-'13 school year.

--SMHS girls' basketball for trips to sub-state and state finals in March 2013.

--SMHS boys' basketball for trips to sub-state and state finals in March 2013.

--South Cumberland sixth grade trip to the Adventure Science Center and Planetarium in Nashville.

--Cumberland County High School (CCHS) band trip to Pigeon Forge.

--CCHS boys' basketball for two different basketball tournament trips in 2013.

The BOE also approved the sale of surplus property at Martin Elementary consisting of old computers, desks and theater curtains; North Cumberland consisting of old computers, projectors, tables and desks; and Homestead Elementary consisting of computer components, Amazon Kindles, printers and label makers.

The trips and surplus property are part of the consent agenda, which was unanimously approved after a motion was made by David Bowman, 7th District representative. Bowman's motion was supported by Josh Stone, 4th District representative.
