BRIEF: Benton man accused of breaking into ex-girlfriend's Waterville apartment

Dec 17, 2012 (Bangor Daily News - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- WATERVILLE, Maine -- A Benton man is facing a burglary charge after breaking into his ex-girlfriend's apartment on Friday night, police said.

Randy Brown, 37, entered the Elm Street residence through an unlocked door, Waterville Deputy Chief Charles Rumsey said.

When Brown got inside, he used the woman's cellphone to make a phone call, and that turned out to be his undoing, according to Rumsey, as the same person wound up calling the victim, who in turn called police.

Officers arrived to find a broken mirror and Brown inside the apartment, Rumsey said. Police arrested him and charged him with burglary and criminal mischief.

Brown was booked into the Waterville police station and released on bail.
