Fugro-Jason Provides Reservoir Characterization Licenses to Fluminense Federal University

Fugro-Jason, the leader in reservoir characterization technology for the oil and gas industry, today announced a grant of Jason Workbench, EarthModel® FT and PowerLog® licenses to Fluminense Federal University in Brazil. The software licenses will be used by undergraduate and graduate students in the Geology and Geophysics Department. Fugro-Jason software improves reservoir surveillance, enabling customers to maximize each field's potential. The software integrates all available information into detailed, consistent models of reservoirs, with powerful geostatistical reservoir characterization; wavelet estimaion and well to seismic ties; and 2D and 3D seismic inversion.

"UFF students are learning how to understand and interpret complex geological and geophysical information, preparing them for a rewarding career in the oil and gas industry," said Eric Adams, Fugro-Jason Managing Director. "Our software gives them the opportunity to put what they learn in the classroom into practice, giving them an advantage in the workforce."

Fluminense Federal University was founded in 1960 in Rio de Janeiro. The Geology and Geophysics Department offers an undergraduate degree in Geophysics and Geology and advance degrees in Marine Geology and Geophysics. About 200 students in total are enrolled each year in these programs.

"This software grant allows us to take on new projects in seismic inversion," said Marco Antonio Cetale Santos, Head of the Geology and Geophysics Department. "We intend to develop, study, analyze and compare different approaches to better estimate seismic impedance using Fugro-Jason software."
