BRIEF: Residents warned of computer scam

Dec 13, 2012 (Fergus Falls Daily Journal - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- Fergus Falls police are warning residents of an online scam that has been reported in the area.

The scam comes in the form of a popup that locks up the computer.

The message reads that the user needs to pay a specific dollar amount ($200 and $400 have been reported) to the FBI in order to unlock the computer.

This is a scam, and no amount of money will unlock the computer.

A repair shop may be able to clean out the virus, but no action should be taken.
