BRIEF: 15 iPads stolen from Rock Hill Walmart

ROCK HILL, Dec 10, 2012 (The Herald (Rock Hill - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- Two men were caught on surveillance video stealing 15 iPads from a Rock Hill Walmart. Police say they forced open the display case and then took off with the Apple tablets.

The loss prevention officer for the Walmart on Dave Lyle Boulevard told police on Sunday that two men stole 15 iPads, totaling $10,485, from the store's electronics section, according to a Rock Hill police report.

The employee was alerted to the thefts when the iPad display cases were found damaged. When he reviewed the surveillance video, he saw two men-- one wearing a red University of South Carolina sweatshirt and hat with blue jeans and white shoes and the other sporting a black jacket, white T-shirt and a stud earring in his left ear-- force open the sliding door of the display cases and hide the iPads on their bodies sometime between 1:53 and 2:42 a.m., the report states.

He said the shoplifters likely took more items because they were also seen on video reaching behind the register. One of the men did purchase a video game with cash, the report states.

The suspects walked to the parking lot and left in a silver or gray four-door Sedan. Police were unable to positively identify the car.
