Tektronix THS3000 Handheld Oscilloscopes Named One of EDN's 2012 Hot 100 Products

BEAVERTON, OR, Dec 10, 2012 (MARKETWIRE via COMTEX) -- Tektronix, Inc., the world's leading manufacturer of oscilloscopes, today announced that EDN has named the THS3000 handheld oscilloscope series as one of the "100 Hot Products of 2012." The 2012 EDN Hot 100 highlights the electronics industry's most significant products of the year based on innovation, significance, usefulness, and popularity as determined by a panel of the publications' editorial staff.

With a weight of 4.8 lbs, seven hours of battery life and four isolated channels, the THS3000 series is built for use in demanding conditions. Models are available with either 100 MHz and 2.5 GS/s maximum sampling rate or 200 MHZ and 5 GS/s sample rate performance.

The 10,000-point record length on all four channels enables the capture of extra waveform details at high sample rates.

"It's always encouraging to receive industry recognition from one of the most respected voices in the electronics industry and, to be sure, the THS3000 is worthy of this recognition," said Dave Farrell, general manager, Mainstream Oscilloscopes at Tektronix. "As the first true high-performance handheld oscilloscope, the THS3000 series meets the growing need for engineers to correlate field and lab measurements and to perform advanced debugging and analysis in the field." Keithley Instruments Model 2657A Also Recognized In addition to the THS3000, EDN's editors also named Keithley Instruments' Model 2657A high-voltage, high-power System SourceMeter(R) SMU (source-measurement unit) to the 2012 EDN Hot 100 list. The unit can deliver up to 180 W of DC or pulsed power to a device under test for both lab and production testing of power semiconductors. Keithley Instruments is a Tektronix company.

The complete list of EDN's Hot 100 products can be found online at http://www.edn.com/electronics-products/other/4401457/EDN-Hot-100-products-of-2012 or within the December 14, 2012 issue of EDN Magazine.

"It's always a fun and enlightening challenge for the EDN editors to select the year's Hot 100 products, which has been an annual tradition at EDN since 1993. This year's selection not only reflects some technology trends that have been in place for a while, but also highlights some new trends that are just emerging, as well as a unique product or two that is in a class of its own," said Rich Pell, Executive and Chief Technical Editor, EDN.

Pricing All THS3000 series models include four 10X passive probes, seven-hour battery, a three-year warranty and OpenChoice desktop software. A travel kit with a hard-sided carrying case is optional.

Starting price is $3,950 U.S. MSRP.
