Dimension Data Achieves Global Cisco Cloud Provider Certification with Cisco Powered Cloud Service DesignationNEW YORK, Dec. 10, 2012 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- To support the expanding role of the network in deploying cloud services, Dimension Data, the $5.8 billion global ICT services and solutions provider, today announced it has achieved Cisco Cloud Provider Certification with a Cisco Powered Cloud Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) designation. As part of the certification process, Cisco audited Dimension Data's Managed Cloud Platform(TM) (MCP), providing assurance that the architecture fully supports the deployment of cloud services across public and private cloud environments, leveraging Cisco as the core networking technology. Announced in February this year, Dimension Data offers public and private cloud Compute-as-a-Service (CaaS), a cloud IaaS that provides self-service, on-demand, provisioning of cloud-based compute, storage and networking resources on a global basis. Using a Web-based user interface, or application interface (API), clients are able to automatically provision Cisco hardware-based VLANs, firewalls, multicast, and Network Address Translation (NAT) to control and secure their cloud environment. Dimension Data's MCP is a fully managed cloud delivery platform that can be hosted within a Dimension Data or client data center. The MCP comprises cloud infrastructure and Dimension Data CloudControl(TM), a cloud management system that provides operational control and automation of cloud resource provisioning, orchestration, administration and billing. Private MCPs can be deployed in client data centers across more than 100 countries.
