Learning Insights Examines Talent Management

(PR Web Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) December 06, 2012 On December 5, 2012, BusinessRadioX®’s Learning Insights explored the field of Talent Management in corporate America. Co-hosts Lee Kantor and Stone Payton sat down with Michelle Prince of First Data and Lauri Lipka of AGCO to discuss this topic.

Michelle Prince is Vice President of Human Resources for First Data, a global technology and payments processing leader, serving more than 6 million merchant locations, thousands of card issuers and millions of consumers worldwide. Whether the choice of payment is a gift card, a credit or debit, or a check, First Data securely processes the transaction and harnesses the power of the data to deliver intelligence and insight for its customers.

In discussing Talent Management, Prince explained it as “the way Human Resources can help generate revenue and benefit the bottom line by helping others be as successful as they can be in their roles.” To address this process, Prince says First Data is launching a career website to help locate people with the most up-to-date skills.

According to Prince, 75% of First Data’s employees are in the United States, and they are expanding globally. First Data seeks to grow its own skilled employees in terms of leadership and technical skills, as well as bring on board new employees.

When asked what are First Data’s biggest challenges to Talent Management Strategy, Prince named agility, complexity of roles, and virtual management of employees across the globe.

Joining in the discussion was Lauri Lipka, Director, Global Talent Management and Organization Effectiveness for AGCO. Based in Atlanta, AGCO offers a full line of tractors, combines, hay tools, sprayers, forage and tillage equipment, which are distributed through 2,600 independent dealers and distributors in more than 140 countries worldwide.

Lipka added to the description of Talent Management, explaining that it “addresses the integrated life cycle of the employee.” She detailed the key components of AGCO’s Talent Management Strategy as performance management, succession management, talent acquisition, and learning and development.

According to Lipka, AGCO is now launching a Global Integrated Talent Management System which will allow the company to see its talent globally. With over a $1 million investment, AGCO can use the system to not only understand its current employees and what they bring to the company, but can also assess the needs of the future and be pro-active and predictive around what the talent needs are going to be.
