China Unicom, Microsoft Found Windows Industrial Alliance


BEIJING, Dec 06, 2012 (SinoCast Daily Business Beat via COMTEX) -- China Unicom (Hong Kong) Ltd. (NYSE: CHU, SEHK: 0762, and SHSE: 600050), Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ: MSFT) and nine other manufacturers jointly established a "Windows industrial alliance" today.



They also launched tens of Windows mobile phone and tablet computer models.

It is said that the manufacturers involved in the alliance are some well-known domestic and abroad chip providers, mobile phone makers and tablet computer manufacturers. By now, Qualcomm Inc. (NASDAQ:QCOM), Intel Corporation (NASDAQ: INTC), Samsung, HTC Corporation, Nokia Corporation (NYSE: NOK), ZTE Corporation (SZSE: 000063, SEHK: 0763), Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd., Lenovo Group Limited (SEHK: 0992) and ASUS have joined the alliance.


As agreed by the alliance members, China Unicom will provide preferential strategic services, bindable services and marketing strategies for Windows platform-based smart terminals, while Microsoft will offer more strategic technological support, training and marketing strategies. Chip dealers will provide competitive chips and strategic technological support and terminal manufacturers will energetically develop Windows platform- and WCDMA module-based products with high price-performance ratio.
