UTC Smart Networks Council Board Adds Fujitsu's John ChowdhuryDec 05, 2012 (Close-Up Media via COMTEX) -- Fujitsu, a provider of business, information technology, and communications solutions, announced the election of John S. Chowdhury, utility practice director, Fujitsu Network Communications, to the Board of Directors for the Smart Networks Council (SNC), part of the Utilities Telecom Council (UTC) global trade association. According to the company, UTC a source and resource for information and communications technology (ICT) solutions, collaboration and advocacy for utilities and other critical infrastructure industries. Its members represent electric, gas and water utilities, as well as pipeline and utility transport organizations. The SNC, founded in 2008, is an independent operating unit connecting utilities and solution providers dedicated to establishing a vision and plan for the modern networked grid. "John's experiences and achievements in the utility and telecom industries have clearly established him as an expert and a pioneer in the modernization of utilities communications networks," said Connie Durcsak, CEO and president of the UTC. "John has dedicated his professional life to helping utilities be prepared for the adoption and integration of Smart Grid-driven initiatives. We are thrilled to have him serve on the Smart Networks Council Board of Directors where his know-how will help guide the important work of our council members." During his 25-year career, Chowdhury has provided strategic business and technology guidance to energy entities in the areas of: Smart Grid/AMI/distribution automation, business case development, customer relationship management, billing and telecommunications/wireless networks. His work with utilities and governments included architecting the first Smart Grid solution in the United States. As utility practice director at Fujitsu, John develops network integration solutions, modernization programs and network operations offerings tailored to support utilities as they adapt their communications networks to meet new demands for scalability, reliability, standards, and security.
