BRIEF: Students can apply for state intern jobs

RALEIGH, Dec 04, 2012 (Star-News - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- N.C. residents attending a college, university, technical institute or community college have until Monday to apply for one of up to 75 state government internships available for the summer 2013.

The program offers experience in state government workplaces in locations across the state and in a wide range of fields, from architecture to zoology. In the Wilmington area, internships are available related to the aquariums, state historic sites, shipwrecks and the environment.

Interns won't get rich. They earn $8.25 an hour and work 40 hours a week for 10 weeks in the summer. All internships will begin on May 20 and end on July 26.

The 2013 State Government Internship Guide describing all opportunities and rules is available online at http://www.doa.state.nc.us/yaio/interns.aspx.
