Thom Yorke's Atoms for Peace to release debut LP 'Amok' on Feb. 25

Dec 04, 2012 (Los Angeles Times - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- Thom Yorke fans, prepare your best Bob Fosse dances. His side project, Atoms for Peace, has finally finished its debut album.

The band, which the Radiohead frontman formed in 2009 to play songs from his solo album "The Eraser," has toured and recorded off and on ever since, perhaps owing to the busy schedules of its players -- producer Nigel Godrich, bassist Flea and coveted session drummers Joey Waronker and Mauro Refosco.

Now the group has wrapped up an LP's worth of recordings, which Yorke announced in an email Tuesday. The album is called "Amok," and will be released by XL Records on Feb. 25.

The group's website features some undulating graphics by longtime designer Stanley Donwood, along with some creepy synthetic ambient music that suggests the album's vibe.

The full note and tracklist, written in Yorke's typically droll style, follows: So finally I can tell you the Atoms for Peace record is coming out on the 25th February, it's called Amok.

The front will look like theez..

The tracks are Before Your Very Eyes Default Ingenue Dropped Unless Stuck Together Pieces Judge Jury and Executioner Reverse Running Amok We put something new on the website for you to stare at etc for a while here... www.atomsforpeace.info It's a while to wait i know so i'm sure some other things will occur before then.

I'm still reeling from being on tour for much of the year but we are planning to get together and play etc next year ! We're figuring all that out right now.

Atoms is a ongoing and open ended project, where it leads i know not for certain... which is what is nice about it." ___ (c)2012 the Los Angeles Times Visit the Los Angeles Times at www.latimes.com Distributed by MCT Information Services
