Dec 03, 2012 (AME Info - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- MICROSOFT SCORES WIN IN MOTOROLA PATENT DISPUTE: A US court has ruled against Motorola patent claims that could have led to restrictions on the sales of Microsoft's Xbox and Windows, the Seattle Times has reported. Motorola had sought injunctive relief, including bans on the import or sale of certain Microsoft products such as Xbox and Windows, for what it said was Microsoft's violations of certain Motorola patents. The ruling means Motorola can't enforce an injunction it won from a German court earlier this year that would have banned the sales of Xbox and Windows products in Germany. "Motorola has not shown it has suffered an irreparable injury or that remedies available at law are inadequate to compensate for its injury," said District Judge James Robart.

INTEL, APPLE IN TALKS OVER CHIP DEAL: RBC: Canadian investment bank RBC Capital has said Intel and Apple are in talks to replace Samsung as the manufacturer of chipsets for the iPhone and iPad, Cnet has reported. Intel would use the iPhone design Apple prefers, which is the one from ARM Holdings, a major rival of Intel, and in exchange, Apple would swap out the iPad's current design for the x86 design from Intel, said RBC analyst Doug Freedman. The deal could help Intel make around $2bn in revenue in 2013, he said.

MICROSOFT PLANNING TO LAUNCH NEXT XBOX IN 2013: REPORT: Microsoft is set to release the next version of its Xbox video-game machine in time for the holidays next year, Bloomberg has reported, citing people familiar with the company's plans. The software maker hasn't decided whether to unveil the new Xbox at an industry event such as the E3 show in June, or a separate event devoted solely to the machine, one of the people said. Analysts said Microsoft is still trying to squeeze out sales of the current model Xbox 360, selling 750,000 over the week around Thanksgiving, surpassing company expectations.
