24 Hour Fitness Investments Total More than $65 Million in Southern California Real Estate

SAN RAMON, Calif. --(Business Wire)--

24 Hour Fitness announced plans today to invest more than $11 million in seven clubs throughout Los Angeles County, bringing the total investment in the region since 2010 to more than $65 million. This includes plans to expand the Fallbrook Active club in West Hills in 2013, as well as plans to complete the company's regional club updates and renovations currently in progress in Beverly Hills, Mid-Wilshire, Glendale and Sherman Oaks. By the end of this year, renovation work is also set to begin in Hermosa Beach and Torrance.

"The investments we are making throughout Southern California will provide our thousands of members with the latest equipment and amenities that 24 Hour Fitness has to offer, to better support their fitness goals," said Carl Liebert, president and chief executive officer, 24 Hour Fitness. "We opened our first club in Southern California more than 30 years ago, and we will continue to expand and enhance our clubs with reinvestments like these to create the best fitness environment possible for our members."

Each of the renovated clubs will feature the latest in amenities and equipment that 24 Hour Fitness has to offer, including:

  • Wide variety of cardio and strength training equipment
  • Added or larger functional training areas
  • TRX® Suspension Training
  • Group X® classes
  • Personal Training service
  • And much more

During the past two years, 24 Hour Fitness has opened, updated and relocated 18 Los Aneles County clubs, in addition to a number of other locations across the U.S. Earlier this year, the fitness club chain updated various clubs throughout the area, including its locations in downtown Los Angeles, Long Beach, Sherman Oaks, Carson, Compton, Hawthorne, Altadena, La Cienega and Santa Fe Springs, and relocated its club in Lakewood. In 2011, 24 Hour Fitness opened its Burbank and North Hollywood Super-Sport clubs and remodeled its locations in West Hollywood and Santa Monica. In 2010, two new clubs were opened in Northridge and Monterey Park, and two clubs were renovated in Hollywood and Pasadena.

Today's news follows the company's recent announcement to open and expand three San Francisco Bay Area clubs within the next six months. These announcements mark the most substantial investments 24 Hour Fitness has made in both markets in recent years.
