Oberthur Technologies provides the first Personal Identity Verification (PIV) software: ID-One PIV® Client, the first NIST SP 800-73-3 PIV compliant software

CHANTILLY, Virginia & LEVALLOIS-PERRET, France --(Business Wire)--

Oberthur Technologies, one of the world's largest providers of security and identification solutions and services based on smart card technologies, and number 1 provider of smart credentials to the U.S. Federal government, announces today that their ID-One PIV® Client software is now listed on the General Services Administration's (GSA (News - Alert)) approved product list (APL).

ID-One PIV® Client is the first PIV middleware to be certified, complying with the latest PIV specifications (NIST SP 800-73-3). Oberthur Technologies ID-One PIV® Client offers a high level interface to applications for accessing PIV card functionalities such as authentication, electronic signature and file encryption. Oberthur Technologies' PIV middleware facilitates access to various new features required by SP800-73-3 and already approved by GSA for Oberthur Technologies ID-One PIV® range of smart cards.

ID-One PIV® Client is a part of Oberthur Technologies AWP Suite to secure digital identities, a complete set of software that allows a migration of a PKI environment to the security of smart devices.

The GS is the United States government independent agency which provides assurance that the listed products have been independently and thoroughly tested to comply with Federal Information Processing Standard (FIPS) 201 and related Special Publications. The GSA APL is the list of all validated products for HSPD#12 approved for purchasing by US Federal Agencies.

"Oberthur Technologies continues to be the first company to be PIV compliant, beginning with its ID-One PIV® card, thanks to over 90% market share and now with this middleware solution. This is proof once again of the quality of its products and confirms Oberthur Technologies' expertise and know-how to develop state-of-the-art technologies." said Patrick W. Hearn, Oberthur Technologies' VP Government ID Markets-Americas.

Oberthur Technologies is exhibiting at the 11th Smart Card Alliance Government Conference in Washington DC at the Washington Convention Centre, November 28-29, 2012.
