Iran's Antivirus company says "win32.narilam" virus - amateur's work

Nov 26, 2012 (Trend News Agency - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- The Maher Center of Iran's ITC (Information Technology Company) issued a report that says the "win32.narilam" virus was not made by professionals, ISNA reported.

Symantec Corporation -- an American global computer security software corporation has recently reported a detection of a new malware called "win32.narilam", which according to Iran's Maher Center is not what it seems.

According to Maher, the "win32.narilam" malware has already been reported by some companies in 2010, and is not as dangerous as it has been presented.

Iran's Maher center said this malware has no sign of a major threat, nor a sophisticated piece of computer malware.

The malware was not a wide-spread one, and only targeted databases of several financial systems and accounting software products.

The Islamic republic has been a target of several major cyber attacks in recent years. In September 2010, it was reported that the Stuxnet worm, which is capable of taking over power plants, had infected many industrial sites in Iran.

In April 25, 2011, Iranian officials announced that the country had been targeted by a new computer worm named Stars.

Later, news agencies reported that another computer worm named Duqu had targeted some Iranian organizations and companies.
