Playvision selects TranSwitch's HDplay TXC-44146 transceiver

Nov 23, 2012 (Datamonitor via COMTEX) -- TranSwitch Corporation, a provider of semiconductor solutions, has announced that the company's HDplay TXC-44146 transceiver has been designed into Playvision's next generation high definition video switch targeted for production launch in December 2012.

By leveraging HDplay, Playvision is expanding its product offering to add DisplayPort support for their multimedia switching products, enabling users to connect next generation devices and select between video sources. While many video sources and displays rely on HDMI for video connectivity, DisplayPort is increasingly being featured in new multimedia devices.

HDplay transceivers combine both HDMI and DisplayPort functionality on a single integrated circuit. With HDplay powering a video switch, end-users are able to conveniently connect a range of multimedia devices. HDplay also utilizes TranSwitch's patented AnyCable technology, enabling the user to select long and inexpensive cables, while maintaining HDMI 1.4 performance.

TranSwitch's HDplay Transceiver IC TXC-44146 features; four independent HDP v1.4a Rx ports, supporting HDMI & DisplayPort Dual Mode; one HDMI v1.4a Tx port; full ethernet audio return channel (HEAC); embedded EDID RAM; programmable RJ-45 10/100 ethernet port; SmartCEC using specialized MCU; performance to provide clear video and audio; HDMI v1.4a Rx with link speed up to 3.0 Gbps; full 3D video 60Hz and 4Kx2K resolutions; Phaswitch to provide fast port switching; AnyCable to support long and less expensive cables; and eight channel I2S & SPDIF audio support.

"Playvision has a broad and expanding portfolio of high definition video products and we are proud to add them to our growing HDplay customer base," said Tim Blanke, vice president of worldwide sales at TranSwitch.

"TranSwitch's highly integrated transceivers reduce space requirements, overall design cost, and time-to-market, while addressing the need for DisplayPort functionality in addition to HDMI support. This level of integration and performance is a strong fit for Playvision's solutions, enabling them to address new trends in device connectivity." http://www.datamonitor.com Republication or redistribution, including by framing or similar means, is expressly prohibited without prior written consent.
