BRIEF: Child-rape suspect in courtNov 21, 2012 (The Columbian - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- A 23-year-old Ridgefield man appeared Wednesday in Clark County Superior Court on allegations of child rape. Jeffrey Scott Boyington is accused of molesting and raping a 13-year-old boy he allegedly met in a gay networking chat room. Boyington will be arraigned at 9 a.m. Dec. 5 after Judge Robert Lewis found probable cause Wednesday for charges of second-degree child rape, communication with a minor for immoral purposes, and luring with a sexual motive. Lewis set Boyington's bail at $10,000. Boyington indicated he would hire a private attorney for his defense. A probable cause affidavit signed by a Clark County sheriff's deputy stated that the 13-year-old victim reported that he met Boyington on a gay networking cellphone application, similar to an Internet chat site. In a recorded interview with detectives, Boyington allegedly confessed to the crimes but said he thought the boy was 14, rather than 13, according to the affidavit. . ___ (c)2012 The Columbian (Vancouver, Wash.)
