Who's next as Intel CEO? Chairman Andy Bryant floats five namesNov 19, 2012 (The Oregonian - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- Intel said Monday that it will look internally, and externally, for a successor to retiring chief executive Paul Otellini. Intel's CEOs have always come from within its own ranks, though. Chairman Andy Bryant told Barron's on Monday that the company has a "deep and strong bench" of key executives, and told the Wall Street Journal that the company's preference is to hire internally. Here's a look at five execs Bryant mentioned by name: Renee James, Intel's software chief. She used to be the top aide to legendary Intel CEO Andy Grove, who has said he would like to see her run the company one day. She's chairwoman of Intel subsidiaries McAfee and Wind River Systems. James is the only Oregon executive Bryant named; her desk is next to his at Intel's Jones Farm campus in Hillsboro. Brian Krzanich, chief operating officer and head of worldwide manufacturing. The COO job has historically been a stepping-off point for incoming Intel CEOs, and Krzanich had been considered a likely candidate for the top job even before Monday's news. Stacy Smith, chief financial officer and director of corporate strategy. Smith is a terrific public speaker and has a detailed knowledge of Intel's business. Arvind Sodhani, president of Intel Capital, the company's investment arm. Dadi Perlmutter, chief product officer, has said he wants to be Intel's CEO.
