New Web Series Promoting Awareness About Small Business, Weathering the Storm, to Premiere Tonight on IIL.com

NEW YORK, Nov 19, 2012 (GlobeNewswire via COMTEX) -- IIL Media, a division of International Institute for Learning, Inc. (IIL) and leading full-scale video production house of educational and business videos, announced that Weathering the Storm, a web series that explores the impact of Hurricane Sandy on small businesses affected by the storm, will premiere tonight on iil.com at 8 pm EST. The series will feature 15 episodes, which are three to eight minute videos produced by IIL Media, and will run through December 10, 2012.

The Weathering the Storm web series documents the impact of Hurricane Sandy as told through the narratives of small business owners going through the process of recovery, restoration of normal operations and ultimately survival. The series also looks at the vital role the community and other businesses play during the rebuilding process. The premiere of the video series is scheduled to coincide with American Express' Small Business Saturday on November 24, 2012, to help raise awareness about the critical role small businesses have in building stronger communities.

Weathering the Storm was conceived by Senior Producer, Director and Head of IIL Media d.b. Roderick, who has several Emmy Awards and has been honored by the National Academy of Television, Arts & Sciences for his coverage of 9/11. "The driving idea behind Weathering the Storm is to fill a gap in the coverage of Hurricane Sandy, and document how small businesses, in this particular instance, get back on their feet. It is an insightful look at the small business owners, who were affected by the storm and a staunch reminder to anyone watching how the impact of a crisis can mean life or death for a small business that might not have the same resources as a large corporation," said Roderick.

"The IIL Media Division's goal is to produce top quality videos for businesses, but events like Hurricane Sandy are relevant to all of our clients, which is why we are pleased to premiere Weathering the Storm," said Founder, CEO and President of IIL, E. LaVerne Johnson. "In times of tragedy, it is essential that we pull together, and this series produced by IIL Media is a valuable resource that will hopefully change the hearts and minds of those business leaders who do not have a strategy in place to cope with crisis." The web series Weathering the Storm will be viewable on IIL.com or Youtube.com, and new episodes will air from November 19 - November 30, 2012. The videos will be available Monday through Friday until December 10, 2012. For more information on this series please contact: [email protected] or call (212) 515-5127.
