Wrapp Names Aaron Forth Global Chief Operating Officer
SAN FRANCISCO, CA, Nov 19, 2012 (MARKETWIRE via COMTEX) --
Wrapp, the social gifting app that lets you celebrate your friends
with sponsored and paid gift cards to top retailers, has named former
Mint.com and eBay executive Aaron Forth as its new global chief
operating officer (COO).
For consumers, Wrapp is the fun and easy way to give, receive and
redeem gift cards using mobile devices or the Web, and makes group
gifting among friends a snap.
For retailers, Wrapp is a discount-free, friend-to-friend marketing
platform for conducting performance-based customer acquisition and
retention campaigns. With Wrapp, retailers can drive highly targeted
in-store and on-line sales, and receive real-time access to
aggregated campaign and customer demographic data.
As the company's global COO, Forth, will take charge of Wrapp's
worldwide sales, marketing, product development and engineering teams
in San Francisco and Stockholm.
Wrapp, which started service a year ago in Sweden and now operates in
eight countries, is focused on product improvements and user growth
in the U.S. where gift cards are a $109 billion a year industry.
Forth will now spearhead this drive.
"Wrapp broke new ground when it started and has established itself as
a global social gifting leader at lightning speed," said Forth. "With
the gift giving season upon us, the next few months will be crucial
for Wrapp's long term success. There's no question we have the
necessary talent and drive to make Wrapp the highly profitable
enterprise it's destined to be."
Forth most recently served as Vice President and General Manager of
Mint.com where he was responsible for product strategy, product
management and marketing, customer service, analytics, and consumer
experience -- including research, usability and design.
At eBay Forth served as a Director of Advertising and Product
Management, overseeing a cross-functional group of project managers,
product managers, engineers and quality assurance engineers focused
on advertising technology, online advertising business models and
publisher economics.
After graduating from the University of California at Berkeley, Forth
began his career as a product manager for CRM pioneer Kana
Communications, and then moved to Half.com, a Philadelphia based
person-to-person marketplace, which was acquired by eBay Inc. in
2002.
Forth and his wife, Sangita, live with their two children in San
Francisco.
"Aaron is the consummate Internet exec with broad experience and a
track record of success in start-ups and established companies," said
Wrapp CEO and Co-founder Hjalmar Winbladh. "We're incredibly
fortunate to have him."
