BRIEF: Vining named new chair of Rock Hill school boardNov 16, 2012 (The Herald (Rock Hill - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- Jim Vining, a three-term Rock Hill school board member, is the board's new chairman. Vining's six colleagues on the board voted unanimously Friday to elect him to the chair position, previously held by Bob Norwood, who retired. Vining, nominated by board member Mildred Douglas, was the only person nominated for the role. The board elected Walter Brown, now in his fourth term, as vice chairman. The board voted by secret ballot for that position because Douglas also was nominated. School boards elect new officers after each election. Friday's meeting was specially called after a post-election recount delayed it. Terry Hutchinson, the board's newly-elected at-large member, was sworn in at the meeting.
