Kenya's Yu reports subscriber growth [Bikya Masr (Egypt)]

(Bikya Masr (Egypt) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Kenya’s Yu reports subscriber growth.

ADDIS ABABA: Kenya's mobile operator Yu has reported a large subscriber growth, which the company said is part of its continued boosting of services and options for users in the country.

According to a statement from Yu, it said the number of subscribers passed the three million mark through the end of June.

Country Manager Madhur Taneja said Yu "has demonstrated the fastest subscriber growth by reaching the milestone in just four years since it sold its first Sim card." Taneja said the subscriber growth "translates to increased market share, which grew by 2.7 percent in the year to June to 9 percent." The company reportedly added 1.1 million subscribers in the 12 months.

It comes as Kenya continues to push its telecom market as a means of enticing investment into the country and with the positive reporting from Yu and other telecom operators in the country, it appears the mobile sector is on track to continue to progress as the government hopes.
