American Career College Will Present GED Certificates To 50 ACC GED Preparation Program Graduates
LOS ANGELES --(Business Wire)--
American Career College is set to graduate 50 students from its
no-cost GED (General Education Development) preparation program this
Friday, November 16th, at ACC's Los Angeles campus at 4021
The program, which has been preparing students for the high school
equivalency exam for more than 10 years, is offered to qualified
community members, some of whom will go on to pursue health care degrees
at ACC, as well as academic programs at other colleges and universities.
"Our aim is to make no-cost GED preparation and testing available to
qualified members of our local community," said Tom McNamara, President
of American Career College. "In an age when one in four students drops
out of high school, we want to encourage as many people as possible to
complete the program and earn a GED, which can open up opportunities for
higher education and improved career prospects."
Graduates of the GED program are able to apply directly to ACC's wide
range of health care diploma and degree programs, from respiratory
therapy and pharmacy technician to dental assisting and vocational
nursing, and they are eligible to apply for scholarships to ACC. Many
who complete the GED preparation program go on to enrol at one of ACC's
three Southern California campuses, located in Los Angeles, Ontario, and
Orange (News - Alert) County.
ACC's GED program provides individualized scheduling, teaching,
tutoring, study materials, and practice testing in a comfortable
classroom environment and at no cost. Those who pass the California
two-day GED exam receive the equivalent of a high school diploma.
The GED program is now available at all three ACC campuses. Each has a
library of GED-relevant material and computers for self-paced tutoring.
The program uses adaptive learning technology to assess students' skill
levels and determine which test subjects have been mastered and which
need further attention.
