CEA Announces Best of Innovations Design and Engineering Honorees

ARLINGTON, Va. --(Business Wire)--

The Consumer Electronics Association (News - Alert) (CEA)® announced today the International CES® Best of Innovations 2013 Design and Engineering Award honorees. The CES (News - Alert) Innovations Awards honor outstanding design and engineering advancements across 29 consumer electronics product categories, including two new trend-focused categories: Accessible & Universal Design Technologies and Tech for a Better World.

Accessible and Universal Design Technologies focuses on technologies that have innovative features that make them easier to use, especially for seniors and people with disabilities. Tech for a Better World recognizes technologies that share a common goal and the ability to impact the world in a positive way, either domestically, or around the globe.

"The CES Innovations Award highlights the robust innovation within the CE industry. Adding two new categories to the awards allows for more cutting-edge technologies to enter and be discovered," said Karen Chupka, senior vice president, events and conferences, CEA. "This year's honorees have creative products with impressive design and engineering expertise. We look forward to seeing all these products at the 2013 International CES."

The Best of Innovations designation is awarded to products with the highest judges' scores and will be featured in the Innovations Design and Engineering Awards Showcase in The Venetian at the 2013 International CES. Owned and produced by CEA, the 2013 CES is the world's largest annual innovation event, and will take place January 8-11, 2013 in Last Vegas.

The honorees will also be displayed at CES Unveiled LAS VEGAS: the Official Press Event of the International CES, from 4-7 p.m. Sunday, January 6, at Mandalay Bay, Level 3, South Seas Ballroom C.

CES Innovations Awards entries are judged on overall engineering qualities related to technical specifications and materials, aesthetics and design qualities, the product's intended use and function, unique features and how the design and innovation of the product compares to others in the marketplace.
