Qualcomm Life Launches the 2net Platform and Hub in Europe

Nov 12, 2012 (M2 EQUITYBITES via COMTEX) -- Qualcomm Technologies Inc's (QTI) subsidiary, Qualcomm Life Inc, announced on Monday the availability of its wireless healthcare services offering in Europe.

The 2net Platform from Qualcomm Life is designed as a secure end-to-end, technology-agnostic, which will enable medical device manufacturers and service providers to wirelessly connect their medical devices via a secure, cloud-based service offering that interconnects health devices so that biometric information is easily accessible by device users and their healthcare providers and caregivers.

A connection to the 2net Platform is is provided through a pan-European SIM with no roaming fees and is accessible through four gateways; the 2net Hub, a plug-and-play Class I Medical Device that collects data from a patient's medical device and sends the information to the 2net Platform over a mobile connection, to be stored following encryption; mobile phones; other mobile-enabled devices; and application program interfaces that connect to the customer service platform.

Qualcomm Life said that both the 2net Platform and Hub are each individually certified as Class I Medical Devices in Europe and are also FDA listed as a Medical Device Data System (MDDS) in the US.

Telbios, a service provider of remote health monitoring solutions for chronic care and disease management, and Cystelcom, an engineering software development company which has formed the newly created mHealthAlert and provides products and services to the telecommunications industry, are two of Qualcomm Life's first European customers.

Qualcomm Incorporated (NASDAQ:QCOM) is the parent company of QTI and its subsidiaries, which operate substantially all of Qualcomm's research and development activities and product and services businesses, including Qualcomm's semiconductor business.
