EnOcean and Premier Farnell expand distribution partnership

(ENP Newswire Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) ENP Newswire - 12 November 2012 Release date- 09112012 - EnOcean and Premier Farnell have announced an expansion to their existing partnership.

The global electronics distributor, headquartered in Leeds, United Kingdom, is now shipping small samples and low volume quantities of EnOcean's energy harvesting wireless sensor modules worldwide direct or via its online element14 community. With this global agreement, the inventor of patented self-powered wireless technology complements its international distribution strategy with a strong design-in distributor.

Premier Farnell will fully support the EnOcean Dolphin platform including bi-directional modules, energy harvesters, starter and developer kits. OEMs can purchase these and other EnOcean products at Premier Farnell's global websites Farnell element14 (Europe), Newark element14 (North America) and element14 (Asia Pacific) with immediate effect.

EnOcean's wireless modules have been successfully deployed in more than 250,000 buildings globally, helping to create energy-efficient building and industrial automation solutions. The innovative energy harvesting technology powers wireless communications by collecting energy from the environment from motion, indoor light and temperature differentials.

This eliminates the need to install complicated and costly cabling or to fit batteries, making products based on this technology maintenance-free. The EnOcean wireless protocol has been ratified as the international standard ISO/IEC 14543-3-10, the only standard for energy harvesting wireless solutions.

Part of Premier Farnell's extended offering is the EnOcean Dolphin platform. Visitors of this year's electronica show (November 13-16, 2012, Munich) can experience the Dolphin portfolio at Farnell element14's booth 558-559 in hall A5.

Major components of the Dolphin system architecture are bi-directional and unidirectional wireless modules featuring an interface with different energy converters, such as the electro-mechanical harvester ECO 200, thermal harvesters or solar cells. The modules come in EnOcean's standard frequency versions for worldwide use. The platform is completed by developer kits and the EnOcean ESK 300 starter kit for an easy way to get started with battery-less wireless technology.

'Energy harvesting wireless sensors are a technology with growing, global appeal, and through our dedicated microsites and engineering design platform - the Knode - Premier Farnell will help people and customers to understand energy harvesting and how to use EnOcean technology and products,' said James Turner, Global Segment Manager at Premier Farnell.

'With its experienced team and strong presence in regions Premier Farnell is the perfect worldwide distribution partner to offer our products to OEMs who are looking to start their new designs,' says Andreas Schneider, Chief Marketing Officer of EnOcean. 'We have partnered with Farnell for several years now.

With the step expanding our relationship, we have finalized our international distribution strategy - and we can now fulfill individual demands of our customers in all geographical markets around the world much more rapidly.'
