Dr. Peter Chung and Wife Stephanie to Open Café in Honour of Late SonBURNABY, BRITISH COLUMBIA, Nov 9, 2012 (Marketwire via COMTEX) -- Eminata's Executive Chairman Dr. Peter Chung and his wife, Stephanie, are set to open a new cafe in Burnaby in honour of their late son, Joseph. Joe's Table is a socially-minded cafe slated to open on December 1, 2012 and will employ people with differing abilities. Joseph Chung had multiple disabilities, including autism and epilepsy, but was best known for the joy he brought others. "We want to give everyone an opportunity to financially support themselves and work within the community, no matter what challenges they face," said Peter Chung. "We're grateful for the love and support that Joseph received during his life and hope to give that same support back to our community." The coffee machines and types of food served at Joe's Table are being selected and designed to be easy for the employees to prepare and serve. Employees will be recruited by the Chung's through community groups their son Joseph took part in. Burnaby city council was encouraging of the new cafe, seeing it as a welcome addition to the city's diverse landscape. "Giving people with differing abilities meaningful employment and treating them with respect is a very good cause, whether it is through a for-profit or non-profit venture," said Burnaby Mayor Derek Corrigan. "I hope you are successful in achieving that." Joe's Table is one of many ways the Chung family has honored their son's memory. They have also dedicated a scholarship fund at Regent College, and endowment funds at Trinity Western University and Briercrest College and Seminary in his name.
