Man charged for making bomb threats to two U.S. universities

HOUSTON, Nov 09, 2012 (Xinhua via COMTEX) -- A man charged with making a bomb threat at Texas A&M University is now facing charges for a similar scare at Texas State University, U.S. media reported on Friday.

A complaint unsealed this week accused Dereon Tayronne Kelly of using the email account of his girlfriend, Brittany Henderson, to send a message to an employee with Texas State University on Oct.

18, threatening to blow the school "up to small pieces," according to ABC news. A day later, Henderson's email was used to send a threat to Texas A&M University, according to the report.

The email to Texas A&M University said: "Campus will be bombed at 12 this afternoon." Both campuses were evacuated. The complaint said authorities later found text messages Kelly sent to Henderson admitting to using her email. Kelley will remain at a federal detention center in Houston pending trial, officials said.

There were also other U.S. universities that became the targets of bomb threats. In September, telephoned bomb threats at the University of Texas at Austin, as well as similar threats made to campuses in North Dakota and Ohio prompted evacuations. No bombs were found at any of those campuses.
