Superior man gets maximum 10-year sentence for child pornography

Nov 09, 2012 (The Wisconsin State Journal - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- A Superior man was sentenced to the maximum 10 years in prison Thursday for possession of child pornography.

Timothy Urbanski, 49, also will be under supervised release the rest of his life after prison, according to the sentence handed down by U.S. District Judge Barbara Crabb in federal court in Madison.

Urbanski pleaded guilty to charges in September.

According to a news release from the U.S. Department of Justice, a citizen brought a cell phone to Superior police in July because the phone had child pornography on it.

"The phone was given to her young child by Urbanski, who told the child to take pictures with it," the release said.

When Urbanski went to get the phone, the citizen told him she turned it over to police. He went to the police to get the phone, admitting it was his, with police finding seven child pornography videos on the phone when executing a search warrant on the phone.

Police found three laptop computers, at least five desktop computers, thumb drives, DVDs, CDs and other media in his home, along with a pink suitcase and laundry basket that held children's clothing and child porn photos.

Crabb increased Urbanski's sentence because he possessed more than 600 images of child pornography, he distributed images by email, and he had images of minors under 12 years old.

"In sentencing him to the maximum sentence available, Judge Crabb found him to be a danger to children," the release said.
