UK Remembrance Day Inspires Online Creativity on Safe Social Learning Platform Makewaves
Nov 09, 2012 (PRWeb.com via COMTEX) --
Remembrance Day in the UK is inspiring a new generation to think about their past on Makewaves - the international safe social learning platform. Young people are sharing their memories and thoughts on those who have fought in wars throughout history.
"I think Remembrance Day is very important because soldiers have given the ultimate sacrifice, their lives, to protect us and preserve our freedom," said one Makewaves Student.
This coincides with Prime Minister David Cameron's announcement that all schools in the country are to receive funding for their students to study the centenary of the First World War in 2014. Social media will play key role in this as young people find new, more personal and relevant ways to express their thoughts and memories.
Students can also capture their thoughts in photos, videos and audio, and upload them directly using the free Makewaves social app, available now for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch. The mobile app can be downloaded for free from the Apple app store or http://www.makewav.es/makewavesapp
Free resources, video interviews and more are available to view, download and inspire on the Imperial War Museum Makewaves Network: https://www.makewav.es/imperialwarmuseum
A Makewaves Student said: "They all keep the world safe so you can live at this place, so please thank them by buying a poppy or donating money."
The internet is just one of many ways that people will be sharing messages of Remembrance and Makewaves is the perfect place for young people to publish their thoughts online.
Teachers around the world can set up their free Makewaves site now at http://www.makewav.es/join
