Alarm.com Beats iControl and Control4 to the Top Spot in ABI Research's Home Automation SaaS Competitive Assessment

NEW YORK --(Business Wire)--

Alarm.com (News - Alert), iControl, and Control4 are the three highest ranked vendors within ABI Research's latest Competitive Assessment. In the report, home automation system (HAS) software platform vendors are judged by market share as well as three specific vendor matrices focused on performance and strategy.

Both Alarm.com and iControl have consistently shown skill and innovation with their software as a service (SaaS (News - Alert)) HAS offerings and have provided the functionality that major rollouts have leveraged. For its part, Control4 has a more traditional background, selling individual systems to end-users, but has done well to leverage and expand to embrace SaaS functionality and services.

Alarm.com topped both the "implementation" and "innovation" categories having developed and marketed a platform flexible enough to support many large deployments and a range of clients. iControl was a close second, also benefiting from early and successful partnerships and system deployments. 4Home (News - Alert) shared second place with iControl after scoring well for its application scope and breadth.

Within the implementation category Alarm.com and iControl both beneftted from their strong market penetration and the partnerships they have established, while in third place Control4's position reflects the company's positive move to support SaaS offering alongside its traditional services and alongside its existing channel.

According to author of the Competitive Assessment, Jonathan Collins, "The SaaS market for Home Automation Services is proving key infrastructure for an explosion of investment, interest, and adoption of home automation systems. They are providing support for a range of large existing connected home services companies, such as telcos, cable companies, home security firms, utilities and others to extend their offerings into HAS services- promoting and popularizing HAS technology."

These findings are part of ABI Research's (News - Alert) Home Automation (http://www.abiresearch.com/research/service/home-automation-and-smart-buildings/) Research Service, which includes Research Reports, Market Data, Surveys, Competitive Assessments, and Insights.
