Minnesota Vikings to begin four-game stretch against NFC North

Nov 07, 2012 (Pioneer Press - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- With the first of four straight division games starting when the Detroit Lions come to the Metrodome on Sunday, Nov. 11, the Vikings will face arguably the most significant stretch of the season.

After the Lions and a bye week, the Vikings will play at Chicago, at Green Bay and against Chicago at home.

"It caught my eye from the very beginning, when I first looked at the schedule," linebacker Erin Henderson said at practice Wednesday. "It's one of those stretches that you know are really going to make or break your season." Henderson says the NFC North is the strongest, top to bottom, he has seen in recent years, with third-place Minnesota at 5-4 just half a game ahead of fourth-place Detroit (4-4).

But defensive Brian Robison says the Vikings cannot be thinking about Chicago or Green Bay.

"The bottom line is, the four games don't matter if we don't make sure we have our stuff together this week," he said. "This is a division game and it's the first of four, so the only thing on our mind right now is make sure we try to get to 6-4." After losing three of their past four games, the Vikings find themselves in a bit of a hole.

"But it's not too hard to get out of," Henderson said. "It's not too deep, not too steep at all. It's just a matter of us fighting and scratching and clawing like we always do, and being able to get back up." ___ (c)2012 the Pioneer Press (St. Paul, Minn.) Visit the Pioneer Press (St.
