Taco Bell employee charged with theftRICHMOND, Nov 06, 2012 (Richmond Register - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- On Sunday, Richmond police charged Ashley Johnson, 23, of Keystone Drive, in connection with the theft of more than $3,760 from her employer, Taco Bell, between Sept. 10 and Oct. 15. "The money was pilfered from the cash register at the business," according to a news release from RPD Chief Larry Brock. After she came to the police station, Johnson was charged with theft by unlawful taking (under $10,000) and booked at the Madison County Detention Center, from which she was released less than two hours later on a $4,000 unsecured, third-party bond. The owner of 2007 Chevrolet Silverado 4x4 crew cab pickup truck valued at $25,000 told Richmond police on Friday his vehicle had been stolen from the parking lot of the Saratoga bar, 1430 E. Main St., where it had been left overnight with the keys in the vehicle. The truck is dark blue with Kentucky license 101-MKJ, according to the police report. On Saturday, police charged Joshua J. Oliver, 26, Wilburn Way, with receiving property stolen in an October burglary. On Oct. 1, a resident of an apartment in the 700 block of Marietha Drive reported the dwelling had been broken into during the day and a number of items, valued at $2,700, were stolen. Entry was gained by breaking the kitchen window. Among the items reported as missing were: a 26-inch LED television, two laptop computers, assorted jewelry, a GPS unit, a Wii gaming system, a checkbook, a check made out to the victim, a personal day planner and other items. On Oct. 15, the RPD learned a state police detective had recovered the check, checkbook and the day planner during a search of Oliver's residence in connection with a KSP burglary investigation. An RPD detective then filed a receiving-stolen-property (under $500) complaint against Oliver and a warrant was issued for his arrest. The warrant was served on Oliver at the detention center where he was incarcerated on other charges. RPD had arrested him Oct. 5 on a charge of second-degree fleeing or evading police when he was served with a Berea police warrant charging him with second-degree burglary. Oliver remained jailed Monday evening under bonds totaling $10,000 for all charges. Thefts from residences On Nov. 1, a resident in the 200 block of Keystone Drive reported that her apartment had been broken into during day and a number of items, total value $1,000, were stolen. Entry was gained through a boarded-up rear window, according to the police report. A black Asus netbook computer, an unknown brand DVD/Blu-Ray player and numerous DVDs and Blu-Ray discs were reported missing. Also on Nov. 1, an apartment resident in the 600 block of Big Hill Avenue reported that her silver Cannondale 21-speed bicycle, valued at $500, had been stolen overnight. A chain securing the bicycle to a utility pole had been cut, according to the police report. On Oct. 31, a resident in the 400 block of Hill Street reported that her residence had been broken into during the previous day and a number of items, valued at $2,815, were stolen. Entry was gained by forcing open a rear door, according to the police report. The stolen items included: a Sanyo 50-inch plasma television, a Sanyo 42-inch television, a silver Sanyo DVD player, a white Wii with one controller, two nunchucks, a Blackberry Torch charger and about $20 in loose change. Oct. 31, a complainant reported that several tools, valued together at $1,960, had been stolen from his work van while it was parked in the 1500 block of Irvine Street overnight. Entry was gained by breaking the lock on the sliding door of the vehicle, according to the police report. Reported missing were: a Makita miter saw, a Bostitch nail gun, a red Duo-Fast nail gun, an unknown brand power staple nailer, a Dewalt circular saw, a Black & Decker jigsaw, two mallets, a Makita sander and a Makita drill in a blue case. On Oct. 29, the owner of LP Liquor, 703 E. Irvine St., reported that a number of items, valued at more than $1,630, had been stolen from a storage closet inside the business two days earlier. Among the missing items were: 30 bottles of liquor in assorted brands and sizes; a Cisco wireless router; a Valvoline collector's tee shirt; and a Meucci pool cue, Collector's Edition, two-piece with a black and green handle. Air conditioner thefts On Oct. 28, a resident in the 400 block of Wallace Court reported that the outside air conditioning unit, valued at $1,500, had been stolen from the home sometime during the previous 10 days. The owner of a vacant building in the 500 block of South Keeneland Drive reported that a gray Thermal Zone air conditioning unit, valued at $700, had been stolen from the rear of the building the day before. Theft from Vehicle On Nov. 1, a resident in the 300 block of Irvine View reported that several items, total value $330, had been stolen from her unsecured vehicle overnight. Reported missing were: a Kraco ratchet set in a red case; an unknown brand ratchet set, gray in color; and approximately 20 CDs. Thefts of cellphones From Oct. 27 to Nov. 1, Richmond police received reports of five cellphone thefts. On Nov. 2, a patron of Hasting's in the Richmond Centre reported she inadvertently left her black iPhone 4 (AT&T) in a black-and-pink Otter Box, valued at $200, near the book clearance rack in early evening. When she realized her error and returned, the phone had been taken. Two cellphone thefts were reported Nov. 1. A patron of Meijer reported she inadvertently left her Motorola Milestone X cellular telephone, valued at $200, in a black-and-white zebra case at the self-scan counter in early evening. When she realized her error and returned, the phone was missing. Witnesses reported seeing two females leaving with the phone. An employee of Century 21, North Keeneland Drive, reported that her black Apple iPhone (AT&T), valued at $400, had been stolen from her desk in mid-evening. On Oct. 27, residents of a home in the 100 block of E. Locust Street reported that two white males had entered their residence and taken two cellular telephones during mid-evening. Descriptions of the two suspects were imprecise. The stolen items were described as: a black Apple iPhone, 4S, 16GB in a black LifeProof case, and a white Apple iPhone, 4S, 16GB, in a purple LifeProof case. Estimated loss: $480.
