China Mobile cuts international roaming fees in five countries as from Nov.1


TIANJIN, Nov 01, 2012 (Xinhua via COMTEX) -- China Mobile (CHL.NYSE; 00941 .HK) cuts its international roaming fees in five countries as from Thu rsday, with average charges lowering 52.35 percent.

The five countries are the United States, Indonesia, Phil ippine, Austria, and Sweden.

The largest Chinese telecom operator sharply cut charges of three most popular international roaming services: voice call to th e Chinese mainland, international roaming call receiving, and roaming data traffic.



Charges on calls from Indonesia to China dropped to 2.99 yuan/minute from 29.99 yuan/minute, with roaming data traffic fee down to 0.01 yuan/KB from 0.05 yuan/KB; and charges on calls via US AT&T o perator to China declined to 0.99 yuan/minute from 4.99 yuan/minute, a nd the roaming call receiving fee was lowered to 0.99 yuan/minute from 2.99 yuan/minute.

In addition, China Mobile has been negotiating with telec om operator of other countries and regions for more preferential roami ng service charges. (Edited by Luo Jingjing, [email protected])
