KNOXVILLE, Tenn. --(Business Wire)--

EnerNex is pleased to announce Dr. Aaron Snyder as the Director of EnerNex Smart Grid Labs. In this role, Dr. Snyder will be responsible for executing the vision of the lab.

Dr. Snyder, a senior member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE (News - Alert)), has been with EnerNex five years as a consultant in advanced metering infrastructure requirements analysis, electricity metering, electricity metering standards (domestic and international), demand response and power system wide-area stability and control.

Erich Gunther, EnerNex chairman and chief technology officer, stated: "Appointing Aaron to director ensures the lab's success in its mission to offer vendors, utilities and regulatory entities a place to evaluate and understand technology readiness for potential Smart Grid related projects. Aaron has the experience and the vision to lead Smart Grid Labs and support our clients with continued outstanding, reliable technology services."

During his tenure with EnerNex, Dr. Snyder has assisted utilities with developing and executing electricity metering test plans and procedures, in particular for the case of suspected failures, and including the supervision of vendor personnel performing the tests. He has researched key technical elements, authored and reviewed sections of the Smart Grid Interoperability Standards Rodmap, facilitated domain specific and cross-cutting stakeholder groups, and delivered workshop results for the Electric Power Research and Institute (EPRI) and National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST).

Remarking on the new position, Dr. Snyder said: "I welcome the opportunity to lead the Smart Grid Labs team and am committed to building an even stronger interoperability platform in the Lab." He added, "My goal for Smart Grid Labs is to continually spur innovation, to not only be effective in our mission, but to meet the evolving Smart Grid architecture and technologies."

Before joining EnerNex, Dr. Snyder was the Regulatory Standards Manager for Itron, Inc. In this capacity, Aaron helped determine corporate strategy for electricity metering and data acquisition products based on established and pre-release market requirements, on national and international regulations, and on domestic and international standards.
