FairPoint Communications releases Carrier Ethernet Service 2.0Oct 09, 2012 (Datamonitor via COMTEX) -- FairPoint Communications, Inc., a provider of broadband internet access, has has released Carrier Ethernet Services 2.0, an enhancement to its current E-Line Carrier Ethernet Services product specifically designed for the wholesale market. "We are excited to partner with our customers to provide advanced Ethernet capabilities," said Tony Tomae, executive vice president and chief revenue officer. "FairPoint is committed to continued network and service investment in northern New England." The company offers E-Line services including Ethernet Private Line and Ethernet Virtual Private Line for point-to-point and point-to-multipoint solutions, with speeds ranging from 5 Mbps to 1 Gbps. FairPoint's new Class of Service (CoS) capability, allows customers to prioritize traffic based on application, the company said. "This service is a great step for FairPoint in the wholesale segment," said Roopashree Honnachari, program manager of business communication services at Frost & Sullivan. "It's taking Ethernet to the next level.
