ASSIA Introduces the World's First Comprehensive Home Wi-Fi Management Service

REDWOOD CITY, CA, Oct 08, 2012 (MARKETWIRE via COMTEX) -- ASSIA, Inc., the leading provider of high-performance software tools for dynamic spectrum management (DSM) of digital subscriber line (DSL) and Wi-Fi networks, today introduced Expresse Wi-Fi, the world's first comprehensive residential Wi-Fi management service.

Expresse Wi-Fi provides advanced diagnosis and automatic proactive repair capabilities that improve home Wi-Fi network performance. With clear visibility of real-time Wi-Fi performance, ASSIA can now diagnose Wi-Fi problems, isolate their sources (Wi-Fi versus the DSL, cable, or fiber access link), and resolve Wi-Fi problems remotely and in real time. ASSIA Expresse Wi-Fi has demonstrated performance improvements of more than 100 percent, enabling consumers to enjoy an improved home-broadband wireless experience rich in multimedia content.

Expresse Wi-Fi addresses performance problems that arise as home wireless networks proliferate, and as consumers experience the Internet primarily through a Wi-Fi connection. The increasing number of access points and mobile devices, such as tablets, smartphones, and gaming consoles, can burden a Wi-Fi network, causing high latency, performance bottlenecks, and even outages. Until now, broadband Internet users and/or their service suppliers had limited home Wi-Fi network management tools, leaving these consumers to deal with the challenges of an underperforming network and often at a loss to improve their Wi-Fi experience. The ASSIA Expresse Wi-Fi service isolates and repairs Wi-Fi problems quickly to help customers achieve optimum network performance.

"ASSIA, one of the pioneers of DSL network management, has now taken a strategic next step forward by offering a comprehensive approach to DSL and Wi-Fi management with the launch of Expresse Wi-Fi," said Erik M. Keith, principal analyst, fixed access infrastructure at Current Analysis. "This represents not only a major advance for consumers, but also a huge opportunity for application, Internet, and broadband service providers to deliver a superior quality of experience to the end user." Addresses Fault-Prone Wireless Networks Expresse Wi-Fi provides a full-featured toolset for Wi-Fi network monitoring, troubleshooting, and performance optimization: -- Real-time analysis of home Wi-Fi performance, including the real-time calculation of throughput, latency, and connectivity -- all on a per-device basis.

-- Long-term cloud-based statistical analysis of home Wi-Fi performance for better, more efficient optimization.

-- Rapid and accurate troubleshooting and repair: Expresse Wi-Fi can proactively identify, locate (for example, Wi-Fi network versus access link), and repair problems, while reducing the number of technician dispatches.

-- Automated optimization of Wi-Fi networks.

-- Hardware neutrality: the solution is available for licensing to any customer premises equipment (CPE) vendor. The lightweight Expresse Wi-Fi agent integrates easily into any CPE platform and is deployed in the field through a standard firmware upgrade. The cloud-based service can integrate with any OSS/BSS system through Web services.

AirTies, the digital TV and wireless technology company based in Istanbul, is the first CPE vendor to support ASSIA's new Expresse Wi-Fi product. "We are excited to work with ASSIA and to introduce Expresse Wi-Fi," said AirTies CEO, Philippe Alcaras. "As we continue to look for innovative ways to improve the broadband experience, our customers have expressed strong interest in troubleshooting and optimizing home Wi-Fi networks. ASSIA's approach and expertise in DSL network management combined with AirTies' high-performance gateways, deliver a unique, breakthrough solution." "Consumers around the world expect a seamless Wi-Fi experience.

Although the networks are in place and billions of devices are in use worldwide, many consumers are still disappointed with their home Wi-Fi performance," said Dr. John Cioffi, chairman and CEO of ASSIA.

"ASSIA is delighted to deliver a product that closes that gap by levering our broadband management expertise derived from the 65 million connections we currently manage globally." ASSIA provides Expresse Wi-Fi as a cloud-based service. The product is expected to be generally available in late 2012.
